Body odor is caused by bacteria that build upon one’s sweaty skin and react to oil which causes it to grow and multiply, resulting in an unpleasant smell.

Body odor can be pretty embarrassing, but not to worry, I have some simple solutions you can try out.

These remedies are natural and sitting around your home, so you don’t have to spend a fortune sourcing for them.

Solution To Unpleasant Body Odor

  • Coffee Grounds Body Scrub

Coffee contains odor-absorbing properties because of its powerful aroma.

One can also use them to reduce body odor as a body scrub. To make this, you need coffee grounds mixed with your favorite essential oil.

Wet your skin and gently scrub your body with the coffee and essential oil mix. After this step, rinse off with soap and water. To get the best result, do this two or three times a week.

  • Lemon Water Cleanser


Lemon is effective in protecting your body against bacteria that cause body odor when consumed. It can also be applied to the skin as a cleanser. Using the juice to your underarm improves the body odor.

To make this cleanser, you need lemon juice, as little as half a lemon will do, then mix up with water.

It can be consumed or applied underarm with cotton wool. However, ensure this is done at night or when you intend to stay indoors because lemons react harshly to sunlight.

  • Alcohol Odor Neutralizer


Alcohol contains bacteria-killing properties, so you can use it to cure strong body odor.

Rubbing some alcohol on your underarm (not on a freshly shaven or waxed one to prevent alcohol sting) can reduce the solid underarm smell.

This remedy was discovered in India and has proven to be very effective for bad breath. It is also rich in antibacterial properties, so it can reduce the bacteria that cause bad breath.

Take a spoon or two of coconut oil and swish around your mouth, and gargle in your throat for five or more minutes before spitting it out.

After this, rinse your mouth with warm water, and you are good to go.

  • Baking Soda Deodorant


Baking soda has unique properties. One of such is its odor-neutralizing property.

Applying baking soda on its natural form on the skin can cause sensitivity reactions, so it is best to mix it with something else before use.

It can be combined with coconut oil and applied to the underarm. To make this, you need a spoon of baking soda and two of coconut oil.

After mixing, lay on the underarm and wash off after 15 minutes. Baking soda can also be combined with water and used on the underarm too.


With these simple home remedies, you can say goodbye to unpleasant body odor and get your self-confidence back.
