Talented tennis star Novak Djokovic was born May 22, 1987, in Belgrade, Serbia, Yugoslavia, to a Serbian father Srđan, and Croatian descendant mother, Dijana Đoković. His siblings include two younger brothers, Marko and Djordje.
At a tender age, his parents got him a mini racket and a soft foam ball. According to his father, this became the most beloved toy in Djokovic’s life.

At the age of four, His parents sent him to a tennis camp in Novi Sad, and in 1983, before even attending primary school, six years old Djokovic was forwarded to another tennis camp which was organized by the Teniski Klub Partizan and overseen by Jelena Genčić, a Yugoslav tennis player.
The camp was held at Mount Kopaonik, where his parents ran a fast-food restaurant and a sports equipment business.
After the camp, Genčić claimed Djokovic was the most incredible talent she had seen since Monica Seles.
Genčić worked and trained Djokovic for over six years before finally realizing the need to send him abroad for an increased level of competition due to his swift development.
She informed Nikola Pilić of this development, and in September 1999, the 12-year-old was moved to the Pilić tennis academy in Oberschleißheim, Germany, where he spent four years of his life.
