Asthma is a long-lasting medical condition that affects the lung. It makes the airway swollen, narrow, making it difficult to breathe. 

Symptoms may be severe and life-threatening.

What are the symptoms?

When the airway is narrow and swollen, individuals with Asthma can experience cold symptoms such as sore throat, nasal congestion, and running nose. Other symptoms include:

  • Cough, Wheezing
  • Chest tightness
  • Shortness of breath, difficulty breathing.

Living with Asthma – Causes

Asthma is caused by inflammation in the airways. It has no cure but can be managed through treatments. Keeping track of what flares up your symptoms is essential in maintaining it.

What are the triggers?

The symptoms vary; the episodes could range from mild to severe. The sudden severe symptoms of Asthma is called an asthma attack.

Asthma symptoms are sometimes triggered through certain circumstances; for example, an attack could be triggered by airborne substances like chemical exposure. Some other symptoms occur during or after exercise. 

Living with Asthma – Risk factors

  • Family history – It could run in the family 
  • Cigarette Smoke – The chances of developing asthma increases if you smoke, or through secondhand smoke exposure.
  • Obesity – Being overweight increases your risk of developing Asthma.
