Bobbi McCaughey is an American seamstress and Para-educator from Carlisle, Iowa, born in 1968, married to Kenny McCaughey, born in 1969.
She came into fame after giving birth to septuplets on November 19, 1997, at 29. They were both residents of Carlisle town, Iowa, and had one daughter, Mikayla Marie, born on January 3, 1996.
Bobbi was undergoing ovulation-stimulating Metrodin medication for infertility, and she became pregnant with seven children during this period.
Although the McCaughey’s were asked to consider selective reduction to reduce the number of infants, they both declined, saying they “put it in God’s hands.”

Karen Drake and Paula Mahone were the obstetricians responsible for Bobbi and the babies’ medical care. The septuplets were born prematurely on November 19, 1997, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines; four boys and three girls.
The delivery was done through Caesarean section by a team of 40 specialists in six minutes. The septuplets were named Joel, Nathan, Kelsey, Natalie, Alexis, Kenneth, and Brandon McCaughey.
Nathan and Alexis, two of the septuplets, have cerebral palsy, and both use walkers to move around; Nathan, in November 2005, underwent successful spinal surgery to improve his spine condition and aid his walking abilities.
McCaughey septuplets: Public Response to the Birth
The news of the septuplets’ birth drew worldwide interest, including a December 1997 cover story in Time Magazine.
“For every ten letters we’d get, we learned the public were pleased for us, we’d have one letter accusing us of exploiting the kids and being selfish to spend the world’s resources on a family this enormous,” Bobbi recalled. In a 2007 interview.”
He further claimed that his neighbors weren’t nosy and the residents of Carlisle gave them enough privacy, but random strangers came to their door to knock, asking to hold one of the babies.
The family was recipients of many donations, which includes a 5500 ft² (511 m²) house, a van, and diapers for the first two years, as well as nanny services, clothes, and even the State offered full college scholarships to any state university of their choice in Iowa.
Upon maturation and completion of high school, they were also provided scholarships by Hannibal–LaGrange University in Missouri. The former US president Bill Clinton personally telephoned the McCaughey’s, congratulating them on the birth of the septuplets.

The surviving Dionne quintuplets wrote an open letter to the parents and warned them to keep the septuplets out of the public eye so as not to let them fall into the same pitfalls just like their parents had done, but still wished them the best of luck in raising the children.

When the McCaughey septuplets turned ten in 2007, the family was declining most interview requests.
The lucky parents occasionally speak at anti-abortion events and opposed the selective reduction. Kenny has been quoted saying, “Well, come to our house, and tell me which four I shouldn’t have had!”
He also serves as a deacon in a Baptist Church in West Des Moines, Iowa. In addition, TLC made a documentary for the septuplets 13th birthday in 2010.
They all graduated from Carlisle High School in May 2016; four of the seven children, Natalie, Kelsey, Nathan, and Joel, received scholarships from Hannibal-LaGrange University in Hannibal, Missouri.

Are any McCaughey septuplets married?
Brandon enrolled in the US Army, while Kenny and Alexis attend Des Moines Area Community College. Their elder sister Mikayla gave birth to a son, making the septuplets aunt’s and uncles.
Natalie was the first amongst the septuplets to get married, and her wedding was in May 2019.
Then Brandon followed suit and got married in August 2019. The septuplets will be celebrating their 24th birthday on November 19, 2021.

Bobbi McCaughey is very much alive, and she’s currently a grandmother. Unfortunately, the news of her death is a hoax. She survived the birth of the septuplets and is still married to her husband, Kenny.
