Your heart keeps your body running, so keeping it healthy is of the essence. One way of keeping your heart healthy is by eating suitable meals.

It means that picking the right healthy foods can lower your risk of cardiovascular disease, coronary artery disease; that way, heart attack and stroke are prevented.

These foods, when consumed regularly, keep your heart beating at its best; that said, here are foods that protect your heart.

Salmon

Full of Omega-3 fatty acids, which decreases the risk of arrhythmias (abnormal heartbeats), salmon is one food you should add to your diet.

They slow the growth of plaque in your arteries and slightly lower blood pressure.

Oatmeal

It is another source of omega-3 fatty acids. Oatmeal is a tasty fiber, and it offers nutrients like magnesium, potassium, and iron.

Having them for breakfast is very filling, and they can be top with other food or fruits.

Black or Kidney Beans

Almonds
Almond is another heart-healthy meal you should consume. They lower blood cholesterol and very heart-healthy.

Almonds contain omega-3 fatty acid, heart good monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, magnesium, calcium, and vitamin E.

They are easy to eat, either added in your salad, rice, yogurt. Although they are heart-healthy, one should eat them in moderation.

Walnuts
Like almonds, walnut is also great for the heart. Walnut contains the Same vitamins and nutrients as almond do, making them an excellent choice for a healthy heart meal. Although they are suitable for the heart, they are also high in fat, so one should be eating them in moderation.

A glass of red wine can protect your heart. Red wine contains flavonoids that help maintain the blood vessels’ health and resveratrol, which has heart-protecting benefits.

Now, this doesn’t mean you should start drinking to prevent heart disease, instead enjoy red wine in moderation.

Tuna

Another omega-3 fatty acid-rich food. It provides a reasonable amount of omega-3 fatty acid, even though not as high as that of salmon.

Tuna makes a great salad topping. One can prepare it in different ways and, while serving delicious purposes, prevents heart attack and improves the survival of those who have a heart attack.

Brown Rice

Brown rice can be added to any dish and still be delicious. This meal is not just tasty but healthy for your heart too.

Brown rice contains magnesium, fiber, and vitamin B-complex, among others.

It is another heart-healthy food. It contains Lycopene which protects the heart from cardiovascular disease.

Tomatoes are rich in potassium, folate, fiber, and other nutrients your heart and body need.

The beautiful part about them is that Tomatoes can be added to different meals and snacks and still turn out well.
