Gabby was born to Blaise and Pam Barrett and is one of the eight children of the couple.

She attended Serra Catholic High School in Pennsylvania and then transferred to Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School. Gabby started performing in shows at eleven, and in 2014 she was the winner of Kean Quest Talent Search. She joined the Lamb of God Christian Ministries in Pennsylvania after her father prompted her to sing in an all-black choir.

In 2017, Gabby auditioned for the American Idol held in Nashville, Tennessee.

She appeared in the sixteenth season and moved through the competition before being voted off in the season’s Finale.

After the competition, she collaborated with Allen Foster, a songwriter and producer, who assisted her in writing three songs on her EP:

“The Fireflies,” which had songs like Fireflies, Missin’ Love, and Your Name On It. In 2019, Gabby released “I Hope,” a song co-written by Zachary Kale and Jon Nite.

She performed the song in the seventeenth season of American Idol in 2019 in a guest appearance.After the performance, Gabby announced her signing up with Warner Music Nashville.

Her song I Hope was officially released in June 2019 by the label. The song topped Billboard Country Streaming Chart, Country Airplay Chart, and Hot County Songs Chart in April 2020.

Additionally, she released a version featuring Charlie Puth in April 2020.

In November 2020, the single peaked number 3 on Billboard Hot 100, which made her the first female country artist after Taylor Swift to achieve such a feat.

After that, the single was on the Hot Country Songs chart and stayed there for 25 weeks.

She released her debut album in June 2020, and it has 15.98 million on-demand streams in its first week, which broke the record for the most significant streaming week ever for a debut country album by a woman.
