Chronic Kidney disease, also known as chronic kidney failure, Is a medical condition where there is a gradual loss in kidney function. When the kidney cannot filter excess fluid and waste products from the bloodstream, the waste and excess fluid build up in the body and the kidneys.

Chronic kidney disease Causes

When a disease impairs the function of the kidney over a long period, chronic kidney failure occurs. The conditions that could cause it includes:

  1. Diabetes – If the pancreas cells are damaged, or if your body does not respond well to insulin, you may start having severe health problems such as Chronic Kidney Failure.
  2. High Blood Pressure

Symptoms

  • Weakness
  • Loss of appetite 
  • Muscle twitching/cramps
  • Frequent urination
  • Breathlessness 
  • Rash
  • Diarrhea 

Prevention

To reduce your likelihood of developing it, you should live a healthy lifestyle. The following are things you could do to reduce your chances.

Chronic Kidney Disease

  • Exercise – doing 30-40 minutes of exercise daily could reduce your chances of developing it.
  • Diet – maintaining a low-fat diet will reduce your chances of having a chronic kidney failure
  • Alcohol – Reducing the amount of your alcohol intake 
  • Smoking – If you smoke, you have a higher chance of developing chronic kidney failure.
