How to Fix Cracked Heels at Home

Cracked heels are not severe, and they are just a common foot problem. They occur in both men and women and can sometimes affect children too. They can be quite discomforting, especially when you are barefooted, and also embarrassing, especially among friends, but not to worry, today I will be discussing some home remedies for this :

1. Thick moisturizers Natural moisturizers like shea butter contain properties that moisturize and soften the skin. It can be applied in the morning before you start your day and at night before you go to bed. Other over-the-counter thick m moisturizers can be used, ensure that your feet are protected and well covered with socks to avoid staining your bed with the moisturizer.

2. Soak And Exfoliate Your Feet Soaking your feet first before moisturizing makes the process more effective. A cracked heel is usually thicker and drier than the rest of your body, so it needs some moisture, which can be gotten from a foot soak. Lukewarm soapy water can be used for this, soak your feet for up to 20 minutes, then exfoliate with a foot scrubber or pumice stone. When done, pat it dry and apply your moisturizer to the feet. Apply petroleum jelly over your feet to lock in the moisture, don’t forget to put on socks to avoid spreading petroleum jelly.

4. Coconut oil works wonders for dry skin. It is known to return moisture to the skin. They contain anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties, which help with cracked heels that are prone to infection and bleeding. Coconut oil can be applied on the feet after a foot soak for more effectiveness.

5. Olive oil Just like coconut oil, olive oil can also be used as a moisturizer for the cracked heel. After a foot soak, olive oil can be massaged into the skin evenly. This softens the feelings and offers relief.

6. Bananas Bananas contain amino acids, which are helpful for cracked feels. To use them for your feet, mash two ripe bananas into a smooth paste. Apply this paste on your feet for 20 minutes, then rinse off with warm water before moisturizing your feet. Remember to see significant results, and you must be consistent with these remedies. The cracked heels do not heal overnight, and it takes constant effort, so follow the process.
