Mexico returns stolen ancient Ile Ife artefacts

The Mexican government has returned a stolen ancient artefacts to the Nigerian government.

The ancient figure of Ooni of Ife dating back to the 6th century was returned to Nigeria on Tuesday.

The artefact was seized by the Mexican government after it was illegally exported into their country.

The beautiful carefully crafted bronze sculpture shows a figure of a king in woven pants and hats.

The Ancient Royal figure was never declared missing which makes it difficult to know when it was stolen.

However, The Ooni of Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Babatunde Akande Ogunwusi, Ojaja 11 during a visit to British museum showed  interest in retrieving all stolen Yoruba artefacts.
