    Location: Namibia

The tenth longest bridge in Africa is the Katima Mulilo Bridge.

Built across the Zambezi River in 2004, the Katima Mulilo Bridge, also known as Bridge 508, is located in Namibia and is 900 meters long.

The bridge currently serves as a boundary between Katima Mulilo, Namibia, and Sesheke, Zambia.

    Location: Tanzania

Inaugurated in 2003, the Mkapa Bridge is named after the third president of Tanzania, Benjamin Mkapa.

The bridge, which measures 970 meters, is the ninth longest bridge in Africa, and it is located in Tanzania.

    Location: Cameroon

Located in Cameroon is the Wouri Bridge, built in the 1950s by the French during the colonial period and known to be the eighth longest bridge in Africa.

The bridge is 1.8 kilometers long and joins Douala to the port of Bonaberi.

Qasr Al-Nil Bridge

Built across the River Nile is the Qasr al-Nil Bridge in Egypt, named Khedive Ismail Bridge initially.

The bridge, inaugurated in 1933, is the seventh longest bridge in Africa, with 1.932 kilometers.

Named after the former President of Mozambique, the Armando Emilio Guebuza Bridge is next.

The bridge that connects Sofala and Zambezia’s provinces is 2.37 kilometers long and was inaugurated in 2009. Armando Emilio Guebuza Bridge is 16 meters wide.

The bridge, which is 3.67 kilometers long, was initially constructed as a railway bridge, but now, it effectively links two halves of the country together. The Dona Ana bridge is the fifth-longest bridge in Africa.

Mozambique seems to have most of the longest bridges in Africa. Also in Mozambique is the Island Bridge which was inaugurated in 1969.

The bridge is 3.8 kilometers long and connects the Island of Mozambique to the mainland over the Indian Ocean.

Another long bridge in Egypt worthy of note is the Canal bridge, the fourth-longest bridge in Africa.

Also known as the Egyptian-Japanese Friendship Bridge, the bridge is 3.9 kilometers long and links Africa and Eurasia.

    Location: Nigeria

The second-largest bridge in Africa is located in Lagos, Nigeria. The Third Mainland Bridge, inaugurated in 1990, is 10.5 kilometers long and was once the longest bridge in Africa until 1996.

The bridge travels from Lagos Mainland to Island.

6th October Bridge

    Location: Egypt

The longest bridge in Africa is Cairo, Egypt, known as the “6th October bridge”. It is 20.5 kilometers long and was inaugurated in 1996.

Built along River Nile, the construction of this bridge began in 1969 and took almost 30 years to complete.

Its name originates from the start date of the Yom Kippur War in 1973. The bridge is known to be the spinal cord of Cairo city.
