Yomi Fabiyi is an award-winning Nigerian actor and producer. He rose to the limelight after starring in the movie “Obelomo.”

Early Life

Yomi Fabiyi was born on the 31st of May, the precise year not publicly known in Lagos, Nigeria.

He did his Primary education at Odunlade Primary School and his secondary education at Igbobi College, Shomolu, Lagos.However, information about his tertiary education isn’t known by the media.

Career

Yomi Fabiyi’s acting career started in 2001, when fellow actor, Baba Suwe, introduced him to acting.

He performed his first movie titled Obelomo alongside famous actress Toyin Abraham. The film helped propel him to the limelight and helped him get other movie roles.

So far, he has worked with famous actors like; Desmond Elliot, Hakeem Rahman, Saka, Jide Kosoko, Kemi Afolabi, Ayo Mogaji, and many others.

Yomi tied the knot with his British bride, Fran, in 2012. The marriage
reportedly hit the rocks in 2016, and the couple was on the verge of a divorce.

It was due to the distance barrier in marriage which could not be dealt with. Yomi asked his British wife to join him in Nigeria, but she refused, stating he should come over to her country instead.

It created a rift between them, with Yomi claiming his acting career had just started budding, and he couldn’t just abandon it in Nigeria to move. He is still in talks with his wife Fran to consider a divorce.

Controversy

In 2017, Yomi demanded sex for movie roles by actress Eniola Omoshalewa. She further claimed that Yomi denied her a movie role after she turned him down.

Yomi denied the rumor and sued both Omoshalewa and the blog (Instablog9ja), who released the story, for defamation of character.

Yomi Fabiyi was involved in another controversy in 2021. It took place following the alleged molestation of a 14-year-old girl by a famous Nollywood actor, Baba Ijesha.

Baba Ijesha was said to have molested the young girl, and the whole incident was caught on CCTV. The accused actor was invited to the police station and confessed to the crime, accepting he was guilty.

Yomi Fabiyi then went on social media to ask his colleagues not to jump to conclusions but to demand evidence first. It did not sit well with most people, and he was branded a rape apologist and supporter of evil.

The victim’s foster mother is a fellow actress; she shared a video expressing how sad she was at Yomi’s request. She also said Baba Ijesha had confessed to assaulting the victim four times and blamed it on the devil.

Yomi released a movie titled “Oko Iyabo” to add fuel to the fire. It was a story of a young girl having an affair with a much older man, and it showed the girl being happy with the relationship.

Many people dragged him online to mock the whole case and even use it to produce his movie.
