INEC’s deputy director bagged six years jail term
Auwal Jibrin, a deputy director for the independent national electoral commission (INEC), was convicted on Friday the 28th of June 2019 in Jigawa state high court.
He was convicted with Garba Ismaila of the same charges.

EFCC, in a statement, states that he was investigated alongside his accomplice of $115,010,000 given to them by Alison-Madueke during the 2015 presidential election.

They were charged by the EFCC on a six-count charge of unlawful enrichment and gratification and pleaded not guilty to the charges. It led to a full trial.
Presiding over the case, Justice Yusuf Birnin-Kudu said the defense team failed to counter the prosecution’s evidence through its witnesses.
As a result of this, the court found the first defendant guilty as charged on count two and sentenced to seven years in jail.
The second defendant, who was the deputy director of INEC, was found guilty as charged on counts one and three and sentenced to six years imprisonment.
The court found the defendants not guilty on the remaining charges.
During the investigation, the Money and properties recovered were confiscated apart from a three-bedroom flat at 1 Hadeja Road, Birnin Kudu, Jigawa State.
